Let's Count The Ways

Are you familiar with the term captive audience? This basically means that the listener or onlooker are bombarded with information unrelated to the actual purpose of their being there.

Twerking? What is twer --Ahhrrrggg!
While this is ideal for companies looking to pander their products, this isn't a reliable situation. So they have researched, crafted and invented (cough, manipulation, cough) new ways of appealing to a large group of people to grab the audiences' attention, however briefly. One of my favorites is humor.

These are some of the 2013 superbowl commercials. We eagerly await these every year. A willing captive audience, if you will.

Sometimes, people don't have a sense of humor though. Shocking, yes, but it happens, I assure you. So instead they appeal to your values.

The backlash over this one was immense. I don't want to rehash that here but I wonder how much research Cheerios put into this one...

Well, my friends, I am going to end this here. Hopefully I have provided you with some thinking materials. Not too much though...I like my audience to be able to leave when they wish.
