Privacy, My Precious. We Wants It.

No ones to steal our privacy, precious. Gollum! Gollum!

The Merriam-Webster online dictionary defines privacy as: 1. a :  the quality or state of being apart from company or observation :  seclusion b :  freedom from unauthorized intrusion <one's right to privacy> 2. archaic :  a place of seclusion 3. a :  secrecy b :  a private matter :  secret

In today's world, in order to prevent anyone besides your friends and family from knowing anything about you, you need to huddle in a cave completely disconnected from the world. No phone, no internet, no cable. You can't even shop for your food because they keep track of that now too, offering you discounts on goods and services if you sign up for their card accounts.

What I want to know is, why everyone is in an uproar all of a sudden, over the information that companies have, that we have been willingly giving away for centuries. In order to buy anything, a minimum requirement has been money to buy the goods and a location for delivery. As our world expanded and our population grew so did the requirements of information needed to supply our demand for stuff.  The more our technology improved so too did the ways and means of corporations and governments ability to glean more precise information on any individual.

I see you...

So what? I want my online shopping places to act like my own personal shopper. I don't want to have to keep entering in my order information every time I buy something. It would be great if they have my correct shipping address to send me my stuff. They don't know how many times I get up at night to use the restroom (I'm not telling you either), how often I have sex (yep, you don't get to know that one, either) or why I prefer eggs over cereal in the mornings. You know what? I don't think they really care about that stuff anyway.

5 Things I Want to Share

  1. I am a gaming geek. I love to play games in just about any medium. Bring on the video games, roll those dice on the table, whip out the board game rule book. I will have a great time kicking your butt.
  2. I love to read in just about any genre. Seriously, I have read over 5,000 books
  3. I love to cook for friends and family. I love the process of taking raw ingredients and changing them into yumminess. It is a true case of science meets art.
  4. Cats rule and dogs drool.
  5. I am going back to school after an 18 year hiatus. Wish me luck!
